Manage
Files / Projects / Clients
Most
professionals organize their work
in files, with a separate file for
each client or matter they are working
on. Depending on your profession,
you might refer to these files as
projects, matters, clients, cases,
briefs or something else. Here we'll
call them 'Files' – you can call them
what you like in Credenza.
Along
with phone calls and time entries,
Files is one of the new Credenza modules
seamlessly added into Outlook.

The
heart of Credenza is the ability to
relate all your Outlook information
to your Files. A File is like a virtual
file folder where you store information
relating to one matter. You can associate
emails, contacts, notes, tasks, appointments,
phone calls, documents, time entries
and custom information to a File.
This makes it easier to be organized,
to find information when you need
it, and to bill for your activities.
Your
Files can be sorted and filtered to
display only the ones you need. Depending
on your profession, you may have many
different types of Files. Credenza
comes preconfigured with applicable
types based on your profession --
of course you can further customize
the list to meet your needs.

So
what exactly is stored in a File?
Anything you can do in Outlook can
be associated to a File, from emails
and appointments to notes and tasks.
Not
only is it a collection of all the
activities associated with a particular
project, but the File in Credenza
also lists all of the relevant contacts
and the role they each play on the
File. You can also track business
referral sources, billing rates and
status, accounting details and much
more.
With
the ability to relate all Outlook
records to client files or projects,
Credenza allows you to see the complete
picture with all of the relevant details
about each File.

The
various File tabs in Credenza list
the related information, and are dealt
with in more detail in the other sections
in this features list.
